Abbott Street was the beneficiary of Mr Kennedy. Mr Kennedys gift to his neighbours was to plant a row of Camphor Laurel trees down each side of the street. He said he was inspired by 41 Merthyr Street. There was a Camphor laurel in the gardens. This is said to be the first camphor Laurel in Brisbane.
