I joined a new group recently, Drink and Draw. We met at the Ship Inn Southbank last friday night for a drink, sketch and a chat. It was a lovely evening, with a great group of people.

Today, I went the the Qld Museum to see the above exhibit. It was amazing, and the 20 minute 3D film at the beginning was exceptional.

Qld Art Gallery Exhibit; Modern Woman: Daughters and Lovers 1850 — 1918 | Drawings from the Musée d’Orsay, Paris
This afternoon, I went along to the Qld Art Gallery to see the above exhibit. It was amazing. I spent 4 hours wandering through the exhibit, exaniming the artworks. One of my all favourite of Degas' work,
Dancer sitting, leaning forward, she massages her left foot) 1881–83 was there, so I sketched it! Oh joy.
The exhibition is well worth seeing, and I hope it comes to your town.. It celebrates the changing roles of women during the Belle Époque as depicted by leading artists of the time such as Edgar Degas, Pierre—Auguste Renoir, Edouard Vuillard, Edouard Manet, Camille Pissarro, Pierre Bonnard, Auguste Rodin, Berthe Morisot and Jean François Millet. These artists increasingly abandoned idealised representations of the female figure, and turned to women from a diverse range of socioeconomic backgrounds, depicting them in their family lives and domestic activities, as well as in the public realm as spectators, performers and workers. Through these fascinating drawings, we see French society undergoing radical transformation.
While I was waiting for my ride to come pick me up at 5.00pm, I sat at the Qld State Library Cafe, and listened to a three piece band playing. I still had my sketchbook in my hand.

35th Worldwide Sketchcrawl (Brisbane Chapter)
Our group met at the QUT at 9.30am for a 10.00am start. We sat sat for an hour sketching, then headed
off to the Goodwill
Bridge . Half an hour there, then Southbank. We sketched for half an hour, then headed off
to the food court for lunch. After lunch
we had a difference project.
Imagine This
It was fun, the leader of the project had A3 sheets of paper with faded
out photos on them of buildingds in the street we were on. Our task was to take the photo and add our
artists impression, of how we could improve on the architecture to make the
building more appealing. It was a super
exercise. We spent half an hour on this,
then headed to out last stop, the Queensland State Library. It was a super day! Weather was magical.

Camping Mount Archer Qld Australia
Mount Archer is 90 minutes drive south west of Brisbane. The mount is 604 metres high, and dominates the Mount Archer National Park. The mount is named in honour of the Archer Brothers who explored the Fitzroy area, and it is part of the Darumbal Aboriginal people's traditional country. I camped there this last weekend with my camping group. At night and early morning, we were delighted with the raucous calls of the majestic Black Cockatoos..
We camped along Moores Creek, I think it was called, and it was delightful to hear the water rushing by at night. We had one major thunderstorm on the Saturday night, to add to our excitement. Everyone managed to stay dry..
